American jazz pianist and composer, Emmet Cohen, needed a bold logo for t-shirts to sell at his shows.  The client wanted to make sure a piano was represented in the logo as well as a "C" for Cohen.  They wanted the focus to be placed on the "C" rather than the name of the band, "Emmet Cohen Trio". The reasoning for this design request was to entice people seeing the shirt for the first time to ask questions about it. A question such as, "I like that shirt, what does it mean?", might then prompt the fan wearing the shirt to go on about how great the band is.
